Therapy Tools
Methods Used in Counselling
Therapy isn't a one-size-fits-all process. At Libera Mentis, I use a variety of methods to support you. Some sessions may involve talking things through, while others might include a reflective exercise, creative activity, or grounding technique.
What are Therapy Tools?
Therapy tools are simply different ways of working together. Some sessions may involve talking things through, while others might include a reflective exercise, creative activity, or grounding technique. There is no right or wrong way to do counselling, and not every tool will suit every person, so we'll find what works best for you.
Other Therapy Tools
While creative tools are one way we can work together, I also draw from other approaches to meet your needs, including:

-
Talking Therapy: Creating a safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings.
-
CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy): Challenging negative thought patterns and building new perspectives.
-
Somatic Practices: Breathing exercises and grounding techniques to reconnect with your body.
-
Gestalt Techniques: Role play and the empty chair method to process emotions.
-
Psychodynamic Therapy: Exploring how childhood experiences influence your life today.
How I Tailor Your Sessions
Not every session will involve creative tools—some may focus on talking, others on somatic grounding or guided reflections. Together, we’ll decide what works best for you, ensuring the process feels comfortable and meaningful.
Creative Tools for Healing
Sometimes, words alone don’t feel like enough. Creative exercises can help you express emotions and process experiences in new ways. Here are a few ways we might incorporate creativity into your sessions:

-
Inner Child Work:
Visualising and drawing your inner child to explore past experiences. -
Processing Emotions:
Using colour or collage to express feelings that are difficult to name. -
Reflective Journaling:
Combining words and imagery to deepen self-awareness.
Finding the Right Tools for You
The tools we use will depend entirely on your goals and what feels comfortable for you. Some sessions may be focused on conversation, while others might explore creativity or reflection. There’s no right or wrong way—just the approach that works best for you.

The artwork displayed here has been created by past clients during their therapeutic journeys. Each piece is shared with permission and reflects a unique story of growth, healing, and exploration. It’s important to know that artistic talent isn’t needed—what matters is the process, not the outcome of the art.
